Early Access Program FAQ

At ALD Electronics, we strive to get you the latest productivity tools as quickly as we can design them. Our Early Access Program (EAP) enables us to sell products in a “late Beta” stage. What this means is that although we are confident these products are issue free, we have enhanced the warranty and support duration to take care of any issues that arrive in the field.

It can be challenging to test automotive electronics on the diverse fleet of brands, model years and commercial conditions that industry faces on a daily basis. While we do our best to test in all conditions, the reality is that there may exist corner cases that may present opportunities for improvement in future software and hardware revisions.

Simple! All our products at ALD are guaranteed by our Quality Pledge by default. The EAP program is another layer that enhances this further by allowing us to get products to market faster than we otherwise normally would. We aim to take any perceived risk out of purchasing with us by extending our already industry leading customer support.

Unless otherwise disclosed at point of purchase, EAP products are able to be upgraded in the field. If we receive a problem report or improvement suggestion, we will do our best to investigate and improve the condition in a timely manner.

Unless otherwise noted, EAP products are equipped with a USB-C port. Like most other modern electronic products, firmware upgrades are delivered via an industry standard USB-C to USB-A cable. An updated firmware image file and Windows install file will be supplied along with instructions and technical support. The process should take less than 5 minutes.

There is no change to product warranty. The length and terms remain unchanged as provided in documentation (Owner’s Manual).

The EAP firmware upgrade program is available for a minimum of 2 years from purchase, unless otherwise noted.
